How taking probiotics can reduce abdominal fat

Two recent studies have shown that taking a probiotic will allow you to significantly lose belly fat. In a 2010 study in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition researchers found that taking the probiotic lactobacillus gasseri for twelve weeks significantly decreased belly fat in subjects by 4.6 percent, and they lost an average of 5.8 square cm of visceral fat. A control group gained 1.4 square cm of belly fat. The probiotic supplement group lost 7.4 square cm of subcutaneous fat as well.

 

The second study showed that probiotic supplementation decreased metabolic disease risk factors and resulted in greater glucose uptake and better insulin health.
Managing insulin is critical for health and a lean physique because the role of insulin is to get glucose into your cells so it can be used for energy. If you have excess insulin hanging around in the blood, you’ll have elevated cortisol. High cortisol levels lead to belly fat gain and cause inflammation, accelerating ageing in organs such as the brain and heart.

 

Studies have also shown that taking a quality probiotic not only improved gastrointestinal health but resulted in lower cortisol levels, improved mental functioning, and decreased anxiety. Participants also had fewer depressive symptoms.

 

It is suggested the probiotics lower levels of anxiety and increase mood by eliminating bad pathogens in the gut. This demonstrates that whats happening in your gut can greatly affect your brain, as two-thirds of neurotransmitters are made in the gut lining.

 

Simply eating yogurt isn't sufficient to replenish healthy gut bacteria. Instead aim to regularly eat fermented foods and take a quality probiotic supplement to insure healthy gut flora.
